a different way to think about freedom

About Freedom Uncovered

Question the rules. Rethink the assumptions. Build a life that’s actually yours.
Freedom Uncovered started with the idea that it’s never too late to do something new. Over time, though, I realized that idea was much bigger than writing and publishing books.
For me, freedom has always been about having choices and being willing to question the assumptions we make about how our lives are supposed to look. We’re told what success looks like, what’s realistic at a certain age, where we should live, what we should prioritize, and sometimes even what we should believe. I’m interested in what happens when we start questioning some of those assumptions for ourselves.
A few years ago, my husband and I left Canada and moved to Mexico. I’ve written and published books, started businesses, changed directions more times than I can count, and learned that creating a different life doesn’t automatically make you fearless or certain about what you’re doing. You bring yourself with you.
That’s a big part of what Freedom Uncovered has become.
I write about the psychology of freedom and the things that can get in the way of it: fear, self-sabotage, procrastination, other people’s expectations, and our own tendency to overthink ourselves into staying exactly where we are. I’m also interested in reinvention, creativity, moving abroad, entrepreneurship, writing, and what it means to build a life that feels like your own.
I don’t believe freedom means blowing up your life or constantly chasing something better. Sometimes it means making a huge change. Sometimes it means recognizing that you already have more choices than you thought you did.
Through my writing, books, and Quiet Conversations About Freedom podcast, I talk about those choices, the psychology behind them, and some of the things I’ve learned from making plenty of unconventional decisions myself.
I certainly don’t have all the answers, and I’m suspicious of anyone who claims they do. But I do believe in asking better questions, thinking for yourself, and being willing to change your mind when something no longer makes sense.
That’s what Freedom Uncovered is about.
